Ram Setu Raksha Manch holds protest on May 27

Hardwar, May 19: The Ram Setu Raksha Manch constituted by the VHP will hold a massive demonstration at the Ramlila grounds in Delhi on May 27, VHP supremo Ashok Singhal said.

Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, Mr Singhal said the Ram Setu, an ancient bridge connecting India and Sri Lanka, found mention in scriptures and its existence was a scientific fact.

'' The demolition of the Setu for the construction of the Setu Samundram by the central government was part of a conspiracy to destroy places of cultural heritage'', he said adding that an affront to Hindu sentiments could not be tolerated.

Mr Singhal said the Ram Setu Raksha Manch, with Swami Parmatmanand, general secretary of the Akhil Bhartiya Dharmacharya Parishad, as its president, has been formed to launch a countrywide agitation and create public awareness on the issue. He added that all leading Hindu saints would take part in the demonstration.
