Raj: No interviews for nursery, class I

Jaipur, May 19: A committee formed to look into nursery and class I admission in schools in Rajasthan, has suggested no interviews for both these classes in its report submitted to the Rajasthan High Court.

The committee formed on the orders of the High Court also suggested that children should be of four years of age for nursery and five years for class I.

The report said parents should also not be interviewed during admissions of their wards. It also suggested that nursery education should be transferred to Women and Child Welfare Department.

Advocate Munish Kumar had filed a PIL in this matter.

The report was prepared on the basis of points in the Ganguly and Yashpal committees' reports, the educational system being followed in other states, expert opinions and Rajasthan's geographical and present situation.

The report was also submitted to the state government yesterday on the orders of Justices R M Lodha and R S Chauhan.

The next hearing in this regard will be held on July 13.
