mother kills two kids

Surat, May 19 (UNI) A 22-year old woman was arrested here by Ichapore police for killing her two little kids by giving an overdose of sedative tablets.

According to police sources, Veenus(4) and Nimisha(2), two kids of Devendra Patel, a cable worker, were found in an unconscious state yesterday after consuming some unidentified substance. They were taken to a nearby clinic immediately, where they were declared dead.

When police questioned the mother, Dharmishta Patel, she said that the children has consumed some pesticide when she went out to buy vegetables. But police could not find any pesticide bottle from the house.

Police further grilled Dharmishta and she confessed that she had killed her children by giving an overdose of tablets, as her husband humiliated her, saying that the children were not his and alleged that she had an illicit relationship with a relative.

Dharmishta said that she collected the sedative tablets from her mother-in-law and gave it to her children.

Police has also registered a case against the woman's husband Devendra Patil, sources said.
