Metal proices decline on poor industrial demand

Mumbai, May 19 (UNI) Metal prices declined on poor industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy and brass cuttings eased by Rs 100 each per quintal while copper utensils fell by Rs 200 per quintal on thin buying support.

In the non-ferrous category, aluminium ingots went up by Rs 50 per quintal on good demand. But zinc slab and lead ingot drifted lower by Rs 100 each amid sustained heavy selling pressure.

Tin slab came down by Rs five per kg on sluggish demand while nickel cathode rose by Rs 20 per kg owing to lesser stock supply.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 34,400, Copper utensils - Rs 30,700, Brass utensils - Rs 25,300, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,000 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,300, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,050, Zinc slabs - Rs 19,600, Lead ingots - Rs 9,800, Tin slab - Rs 720 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,280 (per kg).
