Punjab: Mann booked under sedition charges

Jalandhar, May 19: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjeet Singh Mann along with 19 others have been remanded to judicial custody till June 1 under sedition charges.

The district administration earlier had booked Mann, Wasan Singh Jaffarwal and 18 others under sections 107 and 151 of the CrPC on May 14 for putting playcards with photos of Dilawar Singh on the statue of former chief minister Beant Singh.

As a preventive measure, with a fear that Mann, Jaffarwal and thier supporters could vitiate the surcharged atmosphere, a case was registered against them under section 124-A of IPC yesterday.
