Lion dies of illness in Junagadh

Junagadh, May 19 (UNI) A terminally ill 10-year-old lion died in Sakkarbag Zoo here today.

According to a veterinarian, the lion was found lying ill in Surva village near Talala in Gir Wildlife Sanctury. The forest department officials brought the beast to the animal house in Sasan, after administering it with tranquilisers.

Later, the lion was shifted to Sakkarbag Zoo of Junagadh, where it was diagnosed to have a tumour. The veterinarians operated upon the lion and removed the tumour, but it died, the official he added.
