Life imprisonment for murdering teenager

Bangaon, May 19 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a man, convicted of murdering a girl in August last year at Chandpur village under Bagdah police station in North 24 Parganas., to life imprisonment.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Asha Aurora sentenced Ram Parui to life imprisonment under section 302 of the IPC and slapped a fine of Rs 1000 or an additional imprisonment of one month in default of payment of fine.

Meanwhile, Ram was sentenced to five years' imprisonment under section 316 of IPC for killing the foetus of the victim.

Both the punishment will run concurrently, sources said.

The convict had murdered teenager Purnima Parui, who was then pregnant, by strangulating her on August 20, 2006.
