Bhopal, May 19 (UNI) With the settling of a land dispute with the Army, the major obstacle in the way of developing the Raja Bhoj airport to an international-standard airport has been resolved.

Collector S K Mishra told reporters here that an agreement in this regard was given final shape today. As per the agreement, the Army would be provided land in lieu of their land near the airport.

He said another dispute regarding land in 'Raksha Vihar' -- residential colony of Army personnel -- had been resolved. A final shape was being given for providing compensation for houses located in the colony.

Earlier, several rounds of talks between the district administration and army official had taken place regarding the land near airport. However, both sides had failed to arrive at an understanding.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur are keen on implementation of the scheme related to the development of the airport. This would pave the way for international flights and bigger aircrafts.
