Kidnapped couple rescued

Palanpur, May 19 (UNI) A week-long kidnap drama involving a middle-aged couple came to an end today with their release at village Changwada, about 13 km from here.

The couple, Umiya Patel (50) and Rai Patel (48), were allegedly kidnapped by a gang of seven persons on May 14, according to a complaint lodged with the police by the couple's son Suresh Umbhai Patel.

Police sources said the duo was found from a hotel near Sujanpur village in Sidhapur taluka today. Their family members were called to take them back home.

The village was tense since last Monday, when the husband-wife duo was kidnapped on the issue of an intercaste marriage between the kidnapped couple's son Suresh Patel and Ramila Becharbhai Korat, without the consent of his family.

It is being alleged that the couple was kidnapped by Ramila Korat's0 family members.
