GPCC-organised farmers 'yatra' from tomorrow

Ahmedabad, May 19 (UNI) The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will organise an eleven-day ''farmers yatra'' from tomorrow from the famous temple town of Ambaji in Banaskantha district to highlight the problems faced by the farming community in the state.

GPCC spokesman Jayantilal Parmar said here today that a farmers meet will held tomorrow in Ambaji and, thereafter, the farmers will commence on the ''yatra'' that will pass through five districts before culminating at Mehsana.

The ''yatra'' will highlight the problems faced by farmers like inadequate power supply, water, and roads; deteriorating law and order situation, and the high unemployment rate.

The farmers meet will be addressed by AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad, Union Textile Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela, Union Ministers Dinsha Patel and Narayanbhai Rathwa besides GPCC President Bharat Solanki and Opposition Leader in the State Assembly Arjun Modhwadia, he said.
