Engineer murdered for refusing to marry lover
Bhopal, May 19 (UNI) The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested two people in connection with the murder of a young engineer, who was hacked to death here for refusing to marry an married woman with whom he had illicit relations.
Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada-resident V Gopalrao, who was employed by a private company having contract with the railways at Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, was found dead along the tracks near Bhopal railway station on April 23.
After investigation, Vijaywada-resident Gourishankar and Satyanarayan were arrested, while B Shailaja, Suresh and R Reddy were absconding, police sources said today.
Police said Gopalrao had illicit relationship with his neighbour B Shailaja, who wanted to marry him after getting divorce from her first husband. Gopalrao, whose marriage was already fixed on May 9, had declined to marry Shailaja.
Incensed over spurning her proposal, Shailaja conspired to eliminate him with the support of her neighbour, who was also Gopalrao's assistant, and called the engineer to a hotel in Bhopal.
Gopalrao was killed near the track in the night allegedly with the help of four people from Vijayawada.
The woman had hired the killers promising them a hefty amount, but paid only Rs 3,500 initially, police added.
