Campaigning begins for Assembly by-poll in Manipur
Imphal, May 19 (UNI) Candidates for the Khangabok, Thoubal and Khundrakpam Assembly constituencies in Imphal East have started campaigning for the June 2 by-elections.
Meanwhile, Manipur People's Party candidate Laishram Jatra withdrew his candidature for the Khangabok Assembly by-poll yesterday, leaving only three contenders in the fray.
The candidates are Okram Landhoni (INC), wife of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Md Qutub Ali(NCP) and Kh Angou (Samajwadi Party).
Mr Ibobi Singh had vacated the seat as he won in two constituencies in the elections held in February.
In all six candidates are in the fray for Khundrakpam constituency. They are L.Lala (BJP), H.Bimola (Samata Party), N.Singhajit (MPP), L.Premchand (CPI), Th.Lokeshore (INC) and K.Tomba (NCP).
