By-election campaigning begins in Manipur
Imphal, May 19 (UNI) Candidates for the Khangabok, Thoubal and Khundrakpam, Imphal East, have started campaigning for the by-elections to be held on June 2.
Manipur People's Party candidate Laishram Jatra for Khangabok by-election had withdrawn his nomination yesterday, leaving only three in the fray.
The candidates included Okram Landhoni (INC), wife of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Md Qutub Ali (NCP) and Kh Angou (Samajwadi Party).
Mr Ibobi Singh had vacated the seat as he won in two constituencies in the elections held in February last.
Six candidates are in the fray for Khundrakpam constituency. They were L.Lala (BJP), H.Bimola (Samata Party), N.Singhajit (MPP), L.
Premchand (CPI), Th.Lokeshore (INC) and K.Tomba (NCP).
