Being prompt to DM's question proves fatal to minor

Varanasi, May 19 (UNI) Correct reply to the questions of District Magistrate proved fatal for a school boy who was brutally murdered by his two jealous school mates in neighbouring Chandauli district on May 13.

Dharmendra (16) and Pappu Pal (13) were arrested last evening from Savaiyya Malhwar village station for brutally murdering Govind Pal (12), Station Officer (Sahabganj) Gajanan Chaubey told UNI today.

Besides being students of Primary School in Savaiyya Malhwar village, they were kith and kin.

While Govind did not have good rapport with Dharmendra, owing to family differences, he was a close friend of Pappu.

A few days back the then District Magistrate Tirath Raj Tripathi went to the primary school at a function and there asked a few questions to the students. An intelligent Govind -- a student of fourth standard -- replied most of the questions correctly.

Impressed by the minor's performance, the DM awarded him a cash prize of Rs 50.

The prize to Govind further compounded his relations with Dharmendra. Dharmendra alongwith Pappu planned to teach him a lesson.

Both Dharmendra and Pappu misled Govind to playing hide and seek and killed him at an abandoned dwelling in the village.

His body was recovered by the police on May 16 and both the culprits were arrested yesterday, Mr Chaubey added.
