'AP Govt may order CBI inquiry into masjid blast'

Hyderabad, May 19: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government may order a CBI inquiry into the Mecca Masjid blast yesterday which claimed 14 lives and injured more than 50.

Dr Reddy, who arrived here along with Union Home Minister Shivaraj Patil this morning, after visiting the masjid said the government would order a CBI inquiry if required.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister said the government would also order an inquiry into the police firing, which took place after the blast in which four people were killed. Stringent action would be taken against those found guilty, he added.

The law and order situation was under control in the sensitive old city area where the masjid was located, Dr Reddy said.
