AP govt adopts 'special resolution' on bomb blast

Hyderabad, May 19 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today adopted 'special resolution' expressing gratitude to the people of the state for maintaining restraint and cooperating wth police following the bomb blast in the Mecca masjid here yesterday.

Addressing a press conference after convening an emergency cabinet meeting at the Secretariat, State Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy said the state cabinet observed two minute silence and condoled the death of 16 people in the bomb blast.

Stating that the people cooperated with the police without propagating any romours which could have created communal tension in the sensitive old city, the Chief Minister said the government would leave no stone unturned to curb the terrorist violence in the state in future.

It was high time awareness was created among the people about the activities of the terrorists at religious places and there was a need to provide training to volunteers at holy places to monitor the movement of the suspecious people, he said, adding his government had already directed the administration to take steps in this direction.
