6 hurt in an attack, 2 arrested

Varanasi, May 19 (UNI) Six people, including three women were hurt, five of them critically when a mob of villagers attacked them in Chaubeypur area here.

Avinash, Malti, Meera, Urmilla, Sujit and Vikas were hurt in the attack that took place late last night in the Bariyasanpur village, police today said .

Arun Singh, a student of B A (final year) was caught copying in examinations at the Mahadev Degree College by a teacher Avinash Singh yesterday.

Irked over the incident, Arun along with his family members and other villagers attacked Avinash Singh. When family members of college manager Ajay Singh tried to save Avinash they were also attacked by the mob.

The injured had been admitted to hospital, where condition of five is stated to be critical.

Two of accused, including Arun Singh have been arrested, police added.
