Woman mauled by tiger

Balaghat(MP), May 18 (UNI) A woman was mauled to death by a tiger in Roopjhar range in Balaghat district in Kanha national park area two days ago, officials said.

The mutilated body of Jami village-resident Manmatiabai (40) was found in dense forest near Kuharpani in the park area. She went missing after going to the forest along with her three sisters to collect minor forest seeds.

Park's Assistant Director M H Korche has confirmed that the woman was killed by the tiger. It was being investigated whether the tiger had turned maneater, he said, adding residents of nearby villages were alerted through public announcements.
