UP: Two wildlife smugglers arrested

Lucknow, May 18: Two smugglers were arrested and a large quantity of turtle skin was seized from their possession in the Krishnanagar area here.

Police today said Rinku Sheikh and Jumel Seikh of West Bengal were arrested late last night when they were taking turtle skin to Manaknagar. About 25 kg of dried organ and skin were recovered from them.

On interrogation they revealed that they brought the consignment from Chambal river and later smuggled them to West Bengal.

Turtle organs are in huge demand in West Bengal due to its medicinal property to increase potential.

The accused had been sent to jail under Wildlife Protection Act.
