Sony introduces HD Videoconferencing in India
New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) Eyeing 25 per cent share in the high definition video conferencing segment by this fiscal-end from the current 18 per cent, Sony India Pvt Ltd today launched new range of visual communication equipment 'PCS-HG90' for Indian customers.
''The PCS-HG90 equipped with a 3CCD camera will be able to demonstrate real images on large-screen HD displays and projections,'' company's Marketing Head (Business Communication Products), BPP Division Ambareesh Dixit told reporters here.
The video conferencing market in India has grown significantly and is used in diverse fields including telemedicine, ad making and documentaries. Mr Dixit added.
PCS-HG90, the latest addition to Sony's IPELA range of IP-based products, uses HD video compression format and a maximum of video transfer rate of 8Mb/s achieved over IP network.
''The market is growing at a rate of 35-40 per cent every year,'' Mr Dixit said.
The HD visual communication with a 3CCD camera costs Rs 23 lakh whereas the PCS-HG90 with a single CCD camera is available for Rs 20 lakh.
Other features of PCS-HG90 includes enhanced video and audio quality in addition to distinguished safe and secure communication system in the country which can cater well to the defence and government on a whole. ''It is top-of-the-line product with advanced technolgy,'' Mr Dixit added.
The company operating with nine dealers across the country is also mulling for direct sales to big customers. It also plans to open new service centres in metros.
Sony is serving the various sectors of the society like corporates, broadcasters, designers, architects, education in addition to army, defence and the government.
