Sarpanch killed

Chhatarpur, MP, May 18 (UNI) A sarpanch was today gunned down due to political enmity at Nimani village in this district, police said today.

Additional Superintendent of Police O P Tripathi said Dhaniram Yadav (47) was killed by Hariram Rai following an altercation over an old incident.

Dhaniram was seriously injured and he succumbed on the way to the district hospital.

Some people, who were standing nearby, were reportedly injured due to gunshots.

Political enmity between the duo started when Dhaniram defeated Hariram's wife in the last panchayat election by 25 votes.

The accused is absconding.
