Railways' revenue up 9.20 per cent

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The Railways made an earning of Rs. 1784.13 crore during May 1-10 as compared to Rs. 1633.81 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.20 per cent.

The total goods earnings went up up from Rs. 1075.95 crore to Rs.

1160.91 crore during the period, showing an increase of 7.90 per cent.

The passenger revenue earnings were pegged at Rs. 559.39 crore compared to Rs. 504.04 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 10.98 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching went up to Rs. 50.23 crore as compared to Rs. 43.49 crore, an increase of 15.50 per cent.

The sundry earnings also increased from Rs. 10.33 crore during May 1-10 last year to Rs. 13.60 crore during the same period this year, showing an increase of 31.66 per cent.

The approximate number of passengers booked during the period were 187.57 million compared to 179.49 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.50 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 100.58 million and 86.99 million as compared to 98.75 million and 80.74 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 1.85 per cent and 7.74 per cent respectively.
