Prohibitory orders in Hanumangarh dist

Sriganganagar, May 18 (UNI) Probihitory orders have been imposed in Hanumangarh district in view of the heightened tension following the Dera Sacha Sauda controversy.

Prohibitory orders are already in place in Ganganagar district from Wednesday night. Sensing the tense situation, Hanumangarh District Collector Mugdha Sinha issued a notification to impose Section 144 of CrPC in the district from last night.

Extra police force have been called in to tighten security in these two districts. Police are also keeping a close watch on Dera camps and Gurudwaras in these two districts.

Ganganagar SP Vinita Thakur and senior officials toured the religious places and asked people from both the sects to maintain peace.

The controversy arose in Bhatinda in Punjab on Monday after a controversial advertisement appeared in some newspapers, showing the Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh alias Premiji posing as 10th Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh.

At least 30 people were injured in the clashes between Dera followers and Sikhs in Ganganagar on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Sikh clergy in Talwandi Sabo, Bhatinda called for a social, religious and political boycott of the Dera chief and its followers and sealing of dera branches across Punjab.
