New weekly holiday for PDS shops

Chennai, May 18 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has declared the weekly holiday for all fair price shops in the state will be on Sunday instead of Friday, with effect from June one.

This followed Food Minister A V Velu's announcement in the State Assembly during the debate on the demand for grants for his department, an official release here said.

Considering the convenience of all concerned, the weekly holiday for fair price shops which was Friday at present would be changed to Sunday.

The weekly holiday, which was originally on Sunday, was changed to Friday during the previous AIADMK regime.
