Muncipality takes control of shops

Puducherry, May 18 (UNI) The Ozhukarai Municipality swung into action and took control of 16 shops whose owners which failed to remit rent to the municipality.

Official sources said here today, 16 shops were functioning in a building owned by the municipality at Reddiyarpalayam and did not remit the rent for the last several months.

Despite several notices, the shopkeepers failed to remit the rent following which the authorities today broke the locks and used new locks taking them into their control.
