Haryana, AP, TN get central assistance under SGSY

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) The centre has sanctioned money to Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu for the implementation of the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) during 2007-08.

The Ministry of Rural Development has released payment of first instalment of Central share of funds amounting to Rs 3.31 crore to 20 districts of Haryana.

It has released Rs 14.96 crore to 22 DRDAs of Andhra Pradesh towards part payment of first instalment during the year 2007-08 under SGSY. The ministry has also released Rs. 13.23 crore to Tamil Nadu under SGSY during year 2007-08 for 29 DRDAs.

The amount should be utiliSed on the Programme as per approved guidelines of SGSY. The funding pattern will be 75:25 by the Centre and the State.

Under SGSY, assistance is given to the poor family living below the poverty line for taking up self-employment. It actively promotes group approach by organising the rural poor into Self-Help Groups.
