Five in fray for Ullal bypoll

Mangalore, May 18 (UNI) Five candidates, including official nominees of the Congress, BJP, JD-S, CPI-M and an Independent are left in fray for the June two byelection to Ullal Assembly seat.

Two independents Mohammed Ashfaq and Ismail Shafi withdrew their nomination on the last day for withdrawal today.

The candidates left in the fray include U T Abdul Khader (Cong), son of U T Farid, whose death had necessitated the election, Chandrashekar Uchil (BJP), Balakrishna Shetty (CPI-M), Aboobakar Natakkal (JD-S) and Bharatraj Shetty (Ind).
