Ferrous metals ease further on sluggish demand by consumers

Mumbai, May 18 (UNI) There was sharp decline in Ferrous metals today on sluggish demand by consumers, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy and copper utensils were down by Rs 500 per quintal each on increased offers by retailers.

In the non-ferrous category, zinc slab and lead ingot dropped by Rs 100 and Rs 50 due to the absence of fresh demand.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode eased by Rs five and Rs 20 per kg respectively, on thin buying support.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 34,500, Copper utensils - Rs 30,500, Brass utensils - Rs 25,300, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,100 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,300, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,000, Zinc slabs - Rs 19,700, Lead ingots - Rs 9,900, Tin slab - Rs 725 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,260 (per kg).
