Bangla: Khaleda Zia postpons her visit to singapore

Dhaka, May 17: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has postponed her visit to Singapore for treatment following an extortion case filed against her youngest son Arafat Rahman Coco.

Khaleda, her son and other family members were scheduled to fly for Singapore tonight by Singapore alirlines.

''She has postponed her visit'', Khaleda's close aide Nazrul Islam Khan told sources tonight. Earlier, he had talked with Khaleda Zia over telephone.

Quoting Begum Zia, Khan said that Arafat is in a worse state of health than her's and he needs better treatment.

Begum Zia described the extortion case of TK 1.2 crore against her son as false and urged the concerned authorities to refrain from any harassment by filing such false cases.

This is the second time in last 72 hours the former Prime Minister postponed her Singapore visit.

Earlier, the military backed interim government arrested Khaleda's eldest son Tarique Rahman and scores of her party leaders on corruption charges.
