CM grants Rs 25 lakh to poor students for higher education
Patna, May 17 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has granted nearly Rs 25 lakh from his Relief Fund to help 113 poor but meritorious students in the state to pursue higher education in different disciplines.
Official sources here today said the decision to release the amount was taken after these students and their parents met the Chief Minister at his official residence last month and sought financial assistance.
The government after carefully studying their records and going through financial backgrouds had decided to release the fund to allow the students to carry forward their dreams, the sources added.
While a maximum amount of Rs 39,500 was granted to one student for studying computer science in the International Institute of Information Technology in Hyderabad, the minimum amount of Rs 7,500 was granted to one from Nalanda district for obtaining Diploma in the Central Tool Rooms and Training Centre in Kolkata.
