NCC shooting node in Indore
Indore, May 16 (UNI) A NCC shooting node will come up here for preparing NCC cadets for national and international-level shooting championships.
NCC Director General Lt Gen Prakash S Choudhary told reporters here yesterday the NCC provided army and sports training to its cadets and prepared them for taking up careers in defence.
However, it also provided career counselling for cadets who wanted to take up other options.
Mr Choudhary said a new policy was being chalked out to increase the number of NCC cadets that would also keep in mind that the Board Examinations were not affected.
A target was set to increase the number of cadets from present 13 lakh to 15 lakh. Communications studies had been included in the syllabus.
He said 21,000 units blood was donated by NCC cadets when dengue had spread last year. Besides, the cadets rendered services at 115 blind schools.
National unit camps, leadership camps and special trekking camps were organised for cadets, he added.
The NCC Director General said the Madhya Pradesh Government had been cooperative towards NCC activities and plans were afoot to develop Bhopal, Indore and Khandwa, as NCC towns.
On NCC's popularity, he said at present, 29,000 cadets, 284 schools and 67 colleges were on NCC's waiting list.
He lauded the performance of girl cadets and said efforts being made to increase their number.
