Israeli air strike kills Hamas man in Gaza

GAZA, May 16 (Reuters) An Israeli air strike in the northern Gaza Strip today killed a Hamas militant and wounded two other Palestinians, local sources said.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the strike targeted a Palestinian rocket crew that had just fired into the Jewish state.

Early today, the Israeli government threatened stepped up military action in response to a surge of rocket salvoes from Gaza.
