Hamas calls unilateral ceasefire for 2230 IST

GAZA, May 16 (Reuters) Hamas called a unilateral Gaza ceasefire, effective 2230 IST today, a spokesman said.

''We will unilaterally implement a ceasefire from eight this evening,'' said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum.

Previous ceasefires fell apart within hours and it was unclear whether this one would be any different.
