Former Sarpanch brutally murdered in Phagwara

Phagwara, May 16 (UNI) A former Sarpanch of village Zandiala was brutally murdered by two armed assailants near village fields last evening, police today said.

The deceased Paramjit Singh was on his way to his house on a motorcycle when two armed men stopped and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.

The killers also fired upon him before leaving the site, police said.

The body had been sent to Banga Civil Hospital for post martem examination and police had registered a case under section 302/34 IPC and Arms Act.

Personal enmity was suspected to be the cause behind the murder, however, no arrests had been made so far, police said.
