Bridge collapse causes tension
Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, May 16 (UNI) Tension prevailed after a 24 metre long bridge, constructed in 2001, between Kachakayalapora and Chirayanam collapsed today.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh with a capacity to bear 15 tonne vehicles. However, recently the ONGC plied 40 tonne drilling vehicles. Besides, floods in last August had caused damage, acording to panchayat officials.
Meanwhile, Mummidivaram MLA Pinipe Viswaroop met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who promised to carry out re-construction work on war footing once the work proposals were submitted.The bridge was constructed with funds from MPLADS of Former Speaker Balayogi.
