Varun Shipping acquires AHTS Vessel

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Varun Shipping Company Ltd today informed it has taken the delivery of second 16,000 BHP Anchor Handling and Towing Supply (AHTS) vessel with Bollard Pull in excess of 180 tonnes.

''The sophisticated vessel is proposed to be used for deep sea oil exploration activity continuing in the areas like North Sea, Bay of Bengal and Atlantic Ocean off the coasts of Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico,'' a statement said.

The AHTS vessel is the sister vessel of Subhiksha, which was acquired by the company in January this year.

Subhiksha is presently on long term time charter to Reliance Industries Ltd for its offshore exploration activities in Krishna Godavari basin.
