US says studying reports of violence in Pakistan

Washington, May 15: The Bush administration is studying reports of violence emanating from Pakistan ''in terms of trying to read what's going on politically within that country''.

''We are aware of some of the casualty reports that are coming out (from Pakistan),'' White House spokesman Tony Snow said yesterday.

He was commenting on reports of violence in Pakistan and a firefight along Pakistan-Afghanistan border that left at least one US and one Pakistani soldier dead.

The firefight occurred inside Pakistani territory where US, Pakistani and Afghan military officials met to discuss a recent border clash between the South Asian neighbours.
