PM advises TDP not to politicise Babli project
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today advised the Telugu Desam Party not to polticise the Babli project taken up by Maharashtra.
He gave this advice to the delegation of MPs and MLAs from Andhra Pradesh led by TDP Chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who come to submit a memorandum regarding the Babli Project issue.
The Prime Minister said river waters were national resource and all political parties must work together to ensure equitable utilisation of this national resource. Stating that the matter was presently before courts, the Prime Minister assured the delegation that the Central Government would ensure that justice is done to both Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
He urged the leaders of all political parties not to create tension and instead create an atmosphere in which such contentious issues are resolved amicably to the mutual satisfaction of all sides, an official release said.
A contingent full of TDP partymen are in the city to apprise the Centre and the people of the country about the problems caused to the farmers of Andhra Pradesh by the upstream of Srirama Sagar Project on Godavari river.
