Make Sukhdev's house a memorial

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) A demand was made in the Lok Sabha today to restore the house of the revolutionary Sukhdev and turn it into a memorial.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said the Government was seized of the matter and it was being looked into by the National Integration Council.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr Bhartruhari Mahtab (BJD) said: ''The Government is celebrating the 150 years of the First War of Independence and the birth centenary of Bhagat Singh.... Sukhdev was part of the famous trio of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev whose birth centenary falls today.'' It would be befitting to the great revolutionay on this day that his house in Ludhiana was restored and preserved as a memorial, he said.

He also demanded that a memorial be erected in the Andaman Islands to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Cellular Jail.
