Koda's thrust on education in tribal dominated areas

Jamshedpur, May 15 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has said that the government was determined to elevate the standard of education in the state, particularly in the tribal-dominated areas.

Inaugurating a school for the hearing impaired at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district yesterday, the Chief Minister said the state was lagging behind on literacy mission but despite many hurdles the Government was aiming to achieve the target of making the state fully literate and necessary steps were being taken in this regard.

Mr Koda announced to open Kolhan University and a medical college in Chaibasa. While opening the proposed University was almost finalised for the medical college, the government was mooting to tie-up with private players, he said.

Mr Koda, who hails from Kolhan, lamented that inspite of being endowed with rich mineral resources, the region was condsidered to be one of the backward areas and the government was laying out plans for an all-round development of the region.
