Heat kills 10 peacocks in MP
Morena, MP, May 15 (UNI) Extreme heat coupled with water scarcity is killing peacocks at this district's Maharajpura village where the national bird is found in large numbers.
''Ten peacocks died today. I urge villagers to place water in pitchers, tubs etc for the birds,'' said Divisional Forest Officer Jagdeesh Chandra.
On the other hand, villagers pointed out that the paucity was making it difficult to obtain potable water.
''Such peacock deaths are unfortunately commonplace here.
Information is being provided in writing to the district administration and the Forests Department but the administration is not taking any initiative,'' said Dr Komal Singh.
