Escaped rape accused nabbed

Dharmshala, May 15 (UNI) An undertrial rape accused, who had escaped from police custody on May 10 was re-arrested this morning by Kangra police at Dadeian Dadaseeba Dusadka near Dada Seeba, police said here today.

Kangra District Additional Police Chief Santosh Patial today told UNI that the undertrial criminal Pawan Kumar, who had jumped out of the bus near Ranital falling under local police station was nabbed after the area was cordoned off following a tip-off.

Pawan Kumar, who is a Post graduate in Commerce, was arrested by the district police on 21st of April this year from Amritsar on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl. He was being brought back to jail on the bus after producing him in the judicial court at Dehra when he escaped.

According to police, it was his phone call to his brother to bring food to him at the local, as he was almost starved since his escape, which got him in the police net.
