Delhi's water project put on hold: World Bank
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The World Bank (WB) today said the plans to restructure the water supply system in Delhi have been put on hold here.
Talking to UNI, WB Procurement Reform Coordinator Joel Turkewitz said the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) project had been stalled.
''It will take some time to sort out things and implement the programme,'' Mr Turkewitz said.
The water privitisation move by the DJB received intense public criticism and it was decided not to go ahead with the recommendations in the WB report prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
It was alleged that the working of the DJB was being controlled by the WB and that the bank was favouring PricewaterhouseCoopers for the renovating the water supply in the state.
