BJP would launch agitation on Krishna waters: Bandaru
Hyderabad, May 15 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Andhra Pradesh unit would launch an agitation soon in the state demanding Krishna waters to Hyderabad under the third phase of the implemention of GO 610.
Talking to mediapersons here today, party state president Bandaru Dattatreya alleged that the government had been delaying the third phase of Krishna water programme of 5.5 TMC from Krishna river to Hyderabad to solve the drinking water problems of the city.
The project was essential to solve the drinking water problems in Hyderabad as its area had expanded due to merger of 12 municipalites and eight panchayats around the state, he said.
Mr Dattatreya said the BJP would also launch an agitation demanding implementation of the GO for providing employment to the Telangana people. The Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had no commitment on implementing the GO, he alleged.
Referring to the Government's Re-dedication Day celebrations yesterday, he alleged that Dr Reddy was trying to mislead the people of the state by stating that the government would take up welfare programmes under 20-point programme.
He said the State Government had not implemented the promises made during the elections so far and now repeated the same promises in the function. Dr Reddy promised that the government would complete the irrigation projects in two years, but it is yet to materialise, he added.
The BJP leader said though the Supreme Court and the High courts had rejected the religious-based reservations, the Chief Minister was stating that the government would provide five per cent reservations to minorities. It seems, Dr Reddy was unaware of apex court judgements, he alleged.
Mr Dattatreya said the leaders of the Madiga Reservation Poorata Samithi had sought their help for categorisation of Scheduled Castes. The Convenor of MRPS Manda Krishna Madiga would launch an indefinite fast before the Chief Minster's office on May 17, demanding categorisation of Scheduled Castes, he added.
He urged the Government to take steps to avoid the indefinite strike as it would create problems in the state.
