Atanasio Monserrate resigns from Congress

Panaji, May 15 (UNI) Former minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate today resigned from the primary membership of the Congress and filed his nomination papers as a candidate of the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) for the June 2 Assembly elections.

Confirming the development to reporters at the party headquarters here, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Ravi Naik, however, declined to make any comment.

Meanwhile, Vishwajit Rane, son of Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane and general secretary of the GPCC, also resigned from the primary membership of the party and filed his nomination papers from Volpoi constituency. Today is the last date of filing nominations.
