6 Reliance Fresh stores to open in Indore

Indore, May 15 (UNI) Amidst reports of sporadic protests by local vegetable and fruit vendors, six Reliance Fresh stores will be opened here tommorrow starting company's operations in central India.

Reliance Retail, which already has to its credit 151 Fresh stores in this country, would also register its presence in Bhopal, Gwalior and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

''The concern is needless because the market is large enough to accommodate everybody. A few people may be slightly affected.

Reliance Retail will provide direct employment to five lakh people and indirect employment to 10 lakh. It will not only provide reasonable rates to farmers but also link them to the global market,'' Reliance Retail Head Raghu Pillai told reporters today.

Fruit, vegetables, milk products etc would be available at the stores.

On the other hand, Malwa Mill Vegetables and Fruit Retailers Union staged a protest demonstration in the Malwa Mill area this morning and burnt effigy of Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani.

The Union apprehended that business would be affected by Reliance Fresh's entry and warned of intensifying the agitation.
