14kg heroin seized near Pathankot, one arrested
Pathankot, May 15 (UNI) A man was arrested here after 14 kg of heroin worth about Rs 14 crore in the international market was seized from his possession near Sarna village of this district last night, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence sources said here today.
According to official sources, counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 7.99 lakh were also seized from the man, Harbhagwan Singh, who was carrying the contraband from Jammu in his jeep bound for Amritsar.
The fake notes were of Rs 1000 denomination amounting Rs three lakh while the rest were of Rs 500 denomination, the sources added.
The man, hailing from Amritsar district's Bhikhivind village, was nabbed when the contraband, hidden in a secret chamber in his vehicle, was recovered during the routine checking at a check post near village Sarna at Jammu-Delhi Highway, DRI sources said.
Harbhagwan Singh was being interrogated further, they added.
