Two killed in blast in capital

Guwahati, May 14 (UNI) Two persons, including a suspected ULFA cadre, were killed and several others injured in a blast in Athgaon area of the city today.

Senior Superintendent of Police S N Singh said that the blast occured at about 1230 hours.

Two persons were killed, one of whom was the carrier of the bomb.

The other is an employee of the nearby Dhanuka Mill, the SP added.

Several people were also injured in the blast as the area is a commercial hub and the place was crowded.

Investigations were on to ascertain the details, the SSP said.

Meanwhile, rumours of another blast at Fatasil Ambari area of the city did the rounds at about the same time.

Mr Singh, however, said no blast has been reported from any other part of the city.
