Temperature in Kolkata dips due to rain in adjoining districts

Kolkata, May 14 (UNI) A partly cloudy sky and pleasant breeze in the afternoon had the Kolkatans hoping for some rain and relief from the sweltering heat.

Their hopes were dashed as the breeze drove away the rain-bearing clouds, but did bring down the soaring temperatures and provided respite from the scorching afternoon sun.

Alipore Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with light rain or thundershowers in some areas.

The maximum temperature recorded was 36.1 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 27.5 degrees Celsius.

The humidity was high at 96 per cent.

The Met department forecast a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours.
