Tariff-based bidding for Sasan, Mundra UMPPs

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The developers for the two ultra mega power projects (UMPPs), at Mundra in Gujarat and Sasan in Madhya Pradesh, will be selected through tariff-based bidding route, a Power Ministry official said today.

Budders will have to arrange funds, required on their own, for the projects which have been scheduled to become fully operational within 75 to 88 months from the date of signing of the power purchase agreement, he said.

Moreover, financial institutions will also be involved in the bidding process of the two ultra mega power projects to bring about more transparency.

The proposed power projects entailing an investment Rs 15,000-16,000 crore each will produce 8,000 MW.
